Men's Squash Knocks Off #17-Ranked UVA

The #22-ranked Dickinson men's squash team opened the season with a huge win, turning back the #17-ranked University of Virginia, 8-2, on Saturday afternoon at the Kline Center.
The Red Devils received strong play in the top two flights, winning in straight sets. Junior Abdelrahman Elsergany (Cairo, Egypt/Kent School, Conn.) claimed the number one flight, (11-3, 11-5, 11-3), while first-year Finn Trimble (Whangarei, New Zealand/Whangarei) went (11-3, 11-5, 11-6) to win at number two.
Junior Hal Holappa (New Canaan, Conn./New Canaan) and sophomore Alex Wattles (Millbrook, N.Y./Millbrook) used strong starts to claim 3-1 decisions in the fifth and sixth flights, and Andrew Strudwick (Lake Forest, Ill./Lake Forest Academy) and Tanay Murdia (New Fatehpura Udaipur, India/Delhi Public School) added 3-1 victories in the number nine and 10 spots.
Junior Vincent Warzecha (Chester Springs, Pa./Malvern Prep) survived a 12-10 start and captured the #8-flight (12-10, 11-5, 11-6).
The Red Devils start the season 1-0. They travel to Drexel University next Saturday to face the Dragons at 11:30 pm. They will then face either Franklin & Marshall or the University of Pennsylvania at 2:30 pm. Pairings will be decided after the outcome of the first two matches of the day.
