GAWAD AND ELIAS SET UP FINAL CLASH
Egypt’s former World No.1 Karim Abdel Gawad and Peru’s World No.11 Diego Elias will meet each other in the final of the Golootlo Pakistan Open Men’s Squash Championship PSA Bronze tournament.
Former World Champion Gawad overcame Malaysia’s number four seed Nafiizwan Adnan to book his place in the final.
The Egyptian was in strong form to prevail in 25 minutes, winning by an 11-8, 11-5, 11-7 margin to reach his first final of the 2018/19 season.
Meanwhile, ‘Peruvian Puma’ Elias also enjoyed a straightforward semi-final victory after he dispatched Mexico’s Arturo Salazar 11-9, 11-4, 11-1 in 24 minutes.
Meanwhile in the women’s event, it will be an all-Egyptian battle between number one seed Yathreb Adel and number two seed Nadine Shahin.
Adel defeated compatriot Zeina Mickawy, 11-8, 5-11, 11-9, 11-7 to reach the final, while Shahin overcame Malaysia’s Sivasangari Subramaniam in straight-games to meet her compatriot in the last stage.
