NEW YORK, N.Y. - They are the champions! The Lions clinched a share of their first every
Ivy League title in program history with a 8-1 win over Princeton tonight on Senior Night.
"Its a culmination of a lot of hard work and a long phase of building the right culture," Coach Jacques Swanepoel said about clinching the title. "But, we're not done. We want to do this the right way."
Columbia will at least be co-champions. The Lions are undefeated in league play and have a chance to clinch the title outright with a win over Penn on Sunday.
Adham Madi won the first match of the night, defeating his opponent in three straight sets in the No. 6 position. Sophomore Robin Mann picked up wthe next win in the No. 7 spot, getting the victory in four sets.
In his final home match, senior Seif Attia got the third Lion victory 3-1 in the No. 3 position. First-year Krish Kapur sealed the fourth match of the day for the Lions in the eighth spot, 3-0.
After being down 2-1, junior Carter Robitailled climbed his way back to win a five set thriller 3-2. He dominated the final set, only allowing his opponent to score 3 points.
