World Squash Championship: Five Indians in the main draw

Two of the three Indians in the fray for the qualifying
round made it to the main draw of the men’s section in the World Squash
Championship in Manchester.
While Vikram Malhotra lost in the
final round of the qualifying phase, Mahesh Mangaonkar and Harinder Pal
Sandhu earned a slot in the main draw.
Saurav Ghosal, ranked 16th in the world, has made it to the main draw as a direct entry.
In
the women’s section, Joshna Chinappa and Dipika Pallikal Karthik made
it to the main draw. Joshna is the seeded 14th in the event.
Egypt’s Karim Abdel Gawad (in the men’s category) and Nour El Sherbini (in the women’s) are the defending world champions.
