Qatar Airways marked its renewed three-year sponsorship of the
international Qatar Classic Squash Championship 2017 at the start of the
tournament in Doha.
The airline’s award-winning hospitality will be on display at the Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex throughout the event, which ends on November 3.
The world’s finest squash professionals are competing for first place and the 2017 Qatar Classic Squash Championship prize of $165,000 – the largest award in the tournament’s history – as well as collecting points for the World Series Standings for rankings in future tournaments.
Qatar Airways Cabin Crew will present trophies to the winning players, while Qatar Airways staff will be available to assist with any queries that players or attendees have about their flight tickets throughout the event.
Leading players include Gregory Gaultier from France, Karim Abdel Gawad, Mohamed El Shorbagy, Marwan El Shorbagy, Ali Farag, and Tarek Momen from Egypt, and Nick Matthew and James Willstrop from the UK.
Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive Akbar al-Baker, said: “Qatar Airways is delighted to support the Qatar Classic Squash Championship and welcome professionals from all over the world to Doha to take part in this exciting tournament. Qatar Classic Squash Championship Higher Organising Committee Chairman, Nasser bin Ghanim al-Khelaifi, said: “Our partnership with Qatar Airways is a key enabler for the Qatar Squash Federation to organise this high-quality event and to continue defining Qatar as a globally-renowned and vibrant centre for world-class sporting events.”
