Tickets
for the 2017 Cathay Pacific Sun Hung Kai Financial Hong Kong Open are
on sale now, with squash fans having the opportunity to watch the
world’s best players in action at the World Series tournament between
November 14-19.
Taking place at the Hong Kong Squash Centre (November 14-16) and the Hong Kong Park Sports Centre (November 17-19), the 2017 edition of the Hong Kong Open sees last year’s champions Ramy Ashour and Nouran Gohar return to defend their titles in the third World Series tournament of the season.
The Hong Kong Open is one of the longest-running tournaments on the PSA World Tour – having first been held in 1985 – and the 2017 instalment looks set to continue the drama and gripping action that have been synonymous with the tournament over the past 31 years.
“We are pleased to showcase the world’s best players in Hong Kong once again and look forward to hosting what promises to be an exciting tournament,” said Tournament Promoter Emily Mak.
“With a world-class draw battling it out for honours and local stars such as Max Lee, Leo Au, Annie Au, Joey Chan and Liu Tsz Ling certain to appear in the main draw, this year’s edition of the Hong Kong Open looks set to be one of the most compelling in history.”
In addition to the prestigious title, players will also be competing for points on the World Series Standings as they aim to reach the season-ending PSA World Series Finals – with only the top eight players on the men’s and women’s standings earning a coveted berth.
Egyptian married couple Ali Farag and Nour El Tayeb currently lead the way on the men's and women's World Series Standings, respectively, after they lifted the U.S Open Presented by Macquarie Investment Management titles last week.
The qualifying stages for the 2017 Cathay Pacific Sun Hung Kai Financial Hong Kong Open take place between November 12-13 at the Hong Kong Football Club. The main draw will be staged at the Hong Kong Squash Centre between November 14-16 before moving to the glass court erected at the arena of Hong Kong Park Sports Centre on November 17-19 .
Action from every round of the tournament will be shown live on SQUASHTV (Rest of World) and Eurosport Player (Europe Only), while the semi-finals and finals will be shown live on mainstream broadcast channels around the world, including BT Sport, beIN Sports, Fox Sports Australia and Astro.
