MY VISION FOR SQUASH PLAYERS IN NIGERIA
To be amongst the foremost and elite squash players who will continuously excel in the game of squash at any level with utmost sophistication that is sustainable and characterised with integrity and innovation!
MISSION
The welfare of Squash players in Nigeria is very paramount to me. Hence, my desire that there is an urgent need to ensure that appropriate steps are taken through appropriate representation on the board of the NSF so as to ensure that squash players are ably represented and well respected in the society.
This mission would be accomplished by effectively championing the cause of players on the board of the NSF; by constantly making other members of the board see a reason why squash growth and development in Nigeria is not a venture to be treated with kid gloves.
SQUASH CIRCUITS ACHIEVEMENTS AND DEVELOPMENTS
I was national U-13,U-14, and U-19 champion between 1986/1989. I became U-19 champion in Nigeria at the age of 15 and left to start playing at the senior level when my standard became too high for that category even though I was still under 19 in age. I won Britsh America insurance open, Nicon Hilton super squash amongst other open tournaments. I was national number 2 in Nigeria for many years and represented Nigeria at various international tournaments which includes, Leaks British Open 1995 where I played up to the main draws; I won Youngs Open (plate)at Wimbledon London and represented Nigeria at world Team championship in Egypt which was fully sponsored by Nigerian Government. I also played world Team championship in Malaysia in 1997 which was also sponsored by Nigeria. My coaching experience with Kwara state sport council was for a period of 14years. This has produced elite squash players like yunus Duro, Wale Amao,Idowu Enimakure,Seun Peters,Seun Jaiyeola,Lola Ajayi etc who are still making their mark at enviable heights in the squash circuit both in Nigeria and abroad. I was also Nigeria university game Champion and West Africa university game Champion.
I am the first Nigerian that ever gained a qualification into the main draws of the British Open.
I am an active professional squash player who always offer my service at no cost to other younger squash players through mentorship and special coaching and group and individual clinics. Most of my professional squash colleagues who are the top Nigerian squash players always come to me for training, sparring, group& personal coaching and advice.
I intend to use the various experience that I have acquired over the years to continue to ensure that potential squash players are caught young (squash at grass root); build a solid foundation for our junior players so that their improvement, growth and development in the game of squash will be Unlimited. We can achieved this by combining Squash with Academy like the Egyptian squash players and through other viable squash developmental programmes.
The best among them will be exposed at an early stage to international tournament and squash academy within and outside our shore. I shall work towards ensuring that scholarship are secured for the players who are still in school for the purposes of encouraging them and sustaining their interest in squash. Steps will be taken to ensure that qualified squash players are registered for PSA and other relevant international squash tournaments.
I shall work together with other NSF board members to ensure that a stop is put to the dearth of National Squash Tournaments in Nigeria.
My door will be opened for constructive critism when in office and I am also ready to accept any good proposal from my fellow squash players and other stakeholders that will move our loving game to greater height because I believe in team work and it is my utmost believe that with our collective effort we would all work collectively towards achieving our goals in squash growth and development.
The positive change for squash is here and I am humbled to be a part of that change.
Squash has done a lot for me and it's only natural and decent that I give back to squash and society.
