Floridablanca to Stage Most Lucrative South American Women’s Tournament of All Time

The inaugural Ciudad de Floridablanca will become the most lucrative Women’s squash tournament ever to be held in South America when the PSA W70 tournament takes place  in Colombia between Wednesday March 8 - Saturday March 11.

The tournament will be held in the shadow of the iconic ‘Christ the Redeemer Statue’ on a specially constructed glass court on the stunning Parque el Santisim, which offers spectators an incredible view of the surrounding cities of Bucaramanga and Floridablanca

A prize purse of $70,000 is up for grabs and the tournament boasts a top-class field that features four of the world’s top 10 players, including United States No.1 Amanda Sobhy, Malaysia’s eight-time World Champion Nicol David, former World No.3 Alison Waters and current World No.9 Omneya Abdel Kawy.

With 12 different nationalities included across both the main and qualification draws, the 2017 Ciudad de Floridablanca showcases the global reach of the sport and looks set to be a strong addition to the 2016/17 PSA World Tour calendar.

"The start of the tournament coincides with International Women’s Day, so we are excited to hold the most lucrative Women’s squash tournament ever to be held in South America to mark the date" said Squash Colombia President Pablo Felipe Serna.

"The Parque el Santisim promises to offer a stunning view for spectators and will provide a fitting setting for the world’s leading players over the course of the event as we look forward to an exciting week of world-class action.

"By giving local fans the chance to see some of their heroes in the flesh, we hope to aid squash’s growing popularity in South America."
