Tong Tsz Wing is the only local qualifier to reach the main draw of
the 2017 Hong Kong Squash Open. Her entry makes it a total of six Hong
Kong players in the main competition this year.
25-year-old Tong came from a game down to beat her fellow teammate Vanessa Chu 12-14,11-7,11-5 and 11-6 to reach the main draw for the third time, her first since 2014. She will meet another home player Annie Au at the main draw round one match tomorrow.
In the men's draw, Hong Kong's Yip Tsz-fung was beaten in his second qualifying match by Greg Lobban of Scotland in four games
Home favourite Liu Tsz-ling meets defending champion Nouran Gohar of Egypt in the women's main draw tonight at the Hong Kong Squash Centre.
