Solomon Dalung inaugurates MOC for 19th National Sports Festival

Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Solomon Dalung, has inaugurated the Main Organising Committee (MOC) for the 19th edition of the National Sports Festival (NSF) holding in Calabar the capital of Cross River State.

The event slated for 8th to 21st November, 2016 has suffered several postponements due to the political uncertainty which characterised the nation preceding the 2015 general elections.The Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Mr. Christian Chinyeaka Ohaa will chairman the 13-man committee, while Lizzy Onyenwenwa, the Acting director SPRD will act as the secretary and Jude Amadi, the director of Sports Cross River State is the Ass. Secretary. Prof. Ivara Ejemot Esu, the state deputy governor who doubles as the chairman Local Organising Committee of the NSF will also be the vice chairman of the MOC. Others members of the committee include: Comrade Asu Okang, Engr. Habu Gumel, Monday Emoghavwe (MON), Mrs. Hauwa Akinyemi, Dr. Are Ademola, Engr. Ibrahim Shehu, Tunde Kazeem, Dr. Abdulkadir Muazu and Dr Kweku Tandor.
 
While inaugurating the committe, Barr. Dalung charged the committee to make sure the event surpass the previous NSF held in Lagos 2012 which was adjudged as one of the best, saying that with the calibre of persons in the committee he is sure of a successful event.

“The Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports on it part will do everything within its power to ensure that the Festival take place this year. We will ensure that the flag keep flying
“I am equally aware of the efforts of the Cross River State government under the able leadership of Prof. Ben Ayade, towards ensuring a most successful games with the timely delivery on the facilities being built for the festival,” Dalung said. Meanwhile the commissioner for Youth and Sports in Cross River State, Asu Okang has stated that the state government is ready to host a memorable event come November.
He also said that the state is under pressure to deliver on their promises to host the event despise the huge amount involved.
